About Lammers Glass
Lammers Glass is a family business started by founder Jim Lammers in 1972.
After years as a freelance technical illustrator, Mr. Lammers completed a
6 year tour with the U.S.C.G. as a darkroom technician and illustrator
for the Third District Headquarters on Governors Island, New York. Upon
his release from the service he formulated a multi-service art business called
Creative Graphics, that specialized in wholesale art sales, which were designed,
produced, and distributed along the east coast to hundreds of stores.
While exhibiting in the early 1970's Lammers was approached by Gordon Henderson
of Henderson Leaded Glass Works of Rutherford, N.J. Admiring Lammers' fine
line drawing, Mr. Henderson offered the young artist a refuge in his stained
glass studio to explore his creative potential. This collaboration
resulted in a “informal apprenticeship” in the history, design, fabrication, and
installation of all types of stained glass work. In the late 1970’s Mr.
Henderson retired, it was at that time Mr. Lammers bought his beloved coastal
North Carolina Home and Business, a Victorian house which he and his wife Teri
lovingly restored.
 Today, after 39 years in business, the rambling home has seen the addition of
many rooms, galleries, buildings, and gardens. The 8500 square foot complex
features not only the Outer Banks' largest collection of custom stained glass
panels, lamps, and giftware; but also extensive offerings of Antique Advertising
Signs, Petrolania, Beanpod® Candles, Bubbles Up® Bath and Body products, Gourmet,
sterling jewelry by renowned silversmith Charles Albert, Garden Décor, Copper Enamel
work by Bovano®, Equestrian décor, NAPA firelites, Nautical Antiques, and a new Carolina Christmas Shop.
Meandering through the maze of rooms is a visual delight, featuring not only Mr. Lammers' work, but the glasswork of his extremely talented family including his
wife Teri, daughter Kristin, and son-in-law Johnny Praley; all of whom have
became major talents in their own right. So whether you are traveling to
or from the lovely Outer Banks of North Carolina, you will definitely want to
